Race Day

Today was the first day of real racing and the North Bay team showed that they are a force to be watched. Alex Stockfish won a gold in the K1 division, Cortney Pappano won a bronze in the same division. and Jenna Godbout won a pair of silvers in the K2 division. The boys placed well in their divisions and were getting better with every run.
Of course none of this would be possible without the great support crew of parents who worked the radios on the hill and spent hours tuning skiis. Todays pictures show Alex finishing her gold medal run, and Kaitlin moving well. Also a couple of candids of the hard working parents.
Tomorrow brings a combined race consisting of a SG run and a Slalom run. Hopefully someone will be able to post for the weekend as I'm heading home tomorrow.

Wednesday training

Another day with lots of snow. It was a challange to keep the snow off of the course, but the crews were doing a great job.
We finally were able to get on the hill to take pictures and thanks to Marisa for getting some good shots. Must be the new camera.
All the kids had great runs today. A few spills and thrills that weren't caught on camera, but everyone survived. Trevor found the netting at the C curve, and Alex watched the finish line approach from a somewhat upside down sideways position.
Thursday brings us to the actual start of racing. There is a Super G race in the morning and another in the afternoon. It's supposed to be -12 and strong winds so we'll have to watch for frostbite.
So wish the kids luck and I'll try to get some results up here as they come in.

Day One of Training

The kids got their first taste of high speed today as they did three training runs on the SG course. Unfortunately I didn't get any action shots but will try today. The highlight of the day was Madison proving that you can fit between the two poles of a gate under the flag. The coaches did a double take on that one, especially since Madison casually got back in his tuck and carried on down the hill.

Look for some pictures later today.

for propellerheads only

For those who can understand it, here's the setup for our internet connection. I'm using a 20db parabolic antenna pointed at the main lodge where there is a wireless hub. the antenna feeds a Linksys router with a third party operating system in it. It will do far more than the stock system. The linksys router is run as a client which then is connected to a d-link wireless router which acts as our local access point for everyone's laptops in the condo complex. Needless to say everyone is happy and Len is now technically at work.

we made it

It was a great day for a drive. Dry roads, sunshine, and good tunes on the satellite radio. Tomorrow the kids get on the hill for their first day of training so I should get some good pictures to post. There is major ski tuning going on tonight so it might be a late night. The internet is up and running from the room. I put up a directional antenna to tap into the lodge. Everyone is happy with the connection.
stay tuned .
